Week 13 – Day 5

Despite the vagueness of my apps and the internet, I think we can safely say that I’m in the 2nd trimester. This is based purely on how I’m feeling! Which is pretty daym good! Maybe I’m not supposed to shout about this considering how many women seem to suffer through pregnancy, but honestly… things are going really well!

I’m not as tired anymore, I don’t feel bloated all the time anymore, I don’t feel emotional or moody and I’m generally happy with everything. On top of that, I think I’m getting some of my appetite back fro different foods. These last couple of days I’ve really been wanting big juicy pieces of meat, preferable BBQ’d versions.

Been looking at loads of BBQ recipes, and can’t wait to sort the balcony out. We were meant to do it that weekend my parents were here, but the builders above decided to put a new balcony in above us, so we’ve been living in a rain of brick dust! Now they’re finally finished, so next week over the long weekend, we’re gonna do IKEA and gardening center trip and fix it all up!

Week 13 – Day 3

I think I’m actually starting to look pregnant! I got my first pair of maternity jeans (sent back the ones from asos) and now that I’m comfy and nothing is pushing in my belly I can actually exhale which means there’s definitely a little bump showing!


I’ve been keeping to the smaller portions as well which is working a treat πŸ™‚ feeling really good these days! 

Week 13 – Day 1

Small meals work! Been waking up the last couple of days feeling almost normal! Then last night I had a massive meal with lamb kebabs and I don’t feel so good today. I think it was the first time this week I had solid chunks of meat, I’ve just not been into it at all. I mean, I’ve had ham, and fish… but steak and burgers and big pieces make me feel not so great.

Tonight is Eurovision finals(!) which is super exciting πŸ™‚ so gonna head out an watch that later! I also means that it’s been almost a year since we got married. Tomorrow to be exact. Absolutely mental!

Yesterday me and Dave walked into one of those megastores with baby/family stuff, and the whole time I’m just panicking. The amount of stuff they try to sell you! And the prices!! How will any of this stuff fit into our life? Fit into our flat and who we are as people? I’m happy that we both agree on the minimalist approach and are not going to buy “stuff” unless we feel we need it. But the whole experience of seeing everything did chock me a bit. Not to mention the fact that 90% of stuff is split into pink or blue… and I don’t mean the clothes, I mean cots, changing tables and all accessories that you “need”.

So far we’ve only for two onesies. A “classy” sailor one, and one with whales on! Keeping it cool for now.

PS. One of my apps tells me I’ve entered the 2nd trimester, aka the “easy trimester”, but my other app says that it’s not til next week… Let’s see if this week is easy or not.

Week 12 – Day 4

In case anyone cares, I finally managed to go to the loo (first time in 5 days!) which has made me feel infinitely better! Have also been reading up about diet changes that I should have been making instead of sticking to my good old 3 meals a day which has properly clogged me up!

So, while I’m here and feeling a bit more energetic, this is the new improved food plan or pregnancy! Lots of little meals with all the nutrition πŸ™‚

Breakfast options (7.30 am on weekdays):

  • 2 eggs, knackebrod with ham/cheese
  • Banana pancakes (2 eggs + 1 banana) with berries
  • 2 weetabix with kiwi & berriesΒ (with either milk or yogurt)

Snack 1 & 3 & 4 (10 am & 3 pm & evening if needed):

  • Banana or apple and some nuts or peanut butter
  • Babybell and some nuts
  • Vegetable sticks and hummus
  • Yogurt and berries

Snack 2 (aka light lunch around 12.30 pm):

  • Knackebrod with avocado or oily fish and bowl of soup

Dinner (around 7 pm):

  • Chicken or fish w. rice or sweet potatoes and veg

Sounds reasonable right? Time to get a shopping list together and sort this out!!

Week 12 – Day 3

I’m feeling so shit right now. Had a lovely weekend in Cologne but a build up of constipation (soz for too much info), eating too much and a cold means that I’m super bloated and in pain 😦

Apparently this happens to around half of pregnant women, so I need to make some diet changes to sort this out. But let’s do a bump pic anyway. I don’t think it’s grown much at all and attribute the tightness of clothes mainly to the epic bloatedness.

Right now I’m sort of wanting it to start showing as it might free up some stomach space if the uterus actually moves forward instead.

Week 11 – Day 5

Feels like I’ve been in week 12 F-O-R-E-V-E-R!! Probably cause I told everyone I was “almost 3 months”. But tomorrow, or no… Friday I’m actually out of week 12, and into 13. Time still seems to be moving excruciatingly slow, but when I look at all the plans over summer, I realise that it’ll be the end of August before I know it, and I won’t be able to move around as much any more. So what’s planned:

  • This weekend Cologne, for the Ice Hockey World Cup! Gonna be fun with a mini trip and to see Martin!
  • Next weekend is our one year wedding anniversary!! I can’t believe it’s been a year. So much is the same and so much is different.
  • Got some friends visiting at the start on June for a long weekend
  • Spending a week in the Finnish forest at the end of June/start of July
  • Hoping to catch up with Orsi and Anna in July, before going to Sweden for the last week
  • Camping in August + the long bank holiday weekend in Liverpool before my flying ban starts!

Quite a lot to look forward to! I’m hoping I can convince people to come visit me here the last two-ish months as well.

Not much is happening at all in terms of symptoms. I’m still bloated the same way, and getting a lot of acid reflux every time I eat, which is making me not enjoy meals particularly.

Week 11 – Day 3

The long weekends that’s just passed was so nice. Really struggled to get up this morning, and this will be the first 5 day week in ages! I know, I know, people work 5 days a week…. It’s not a big deal.

I totally forgot to take a picture yesterday, so it’ll have to wait until next week. I did weigh myself though, ans still no weight gain?! It doesn’t add up. I can definitely not fit into my old jeans anymore, so I must have just expanded? The stuff I got off asos was good πŸ™‚ need to exchange the jeans though as they are huge! and the tights I reckon will work better once the bump is bigger, as they’re currently just sort of sliding down all the time.

It’s been quite an active long weekend with lots of walking around, mainly casue of King’s Day, and I started noticing that I can really feel it in my lower back, and hip joints after a while. An effect of the pregnancy hormone I suppose, as it loosens up all your joints in preparation for birth! Fun times.
